wild horse annie
audio stream (click) • about wild horse annie
once was a time when the horses ran free
travelin' the land in community
never a care, but someday they would flee
the friend that was their enemy
seems all good things must come to an end
so on came the enemy and doom would impend
by flyin' machines and ones that roll on the ground
and piercing bullets all around
but then came
wild horse annie, she sang it loud and sang it strong
wild horse annie, she got the world a-singin' her song
(wild horse annie!)
she brought her song to the children in school
to indian nations and to people of rule
that deeds like those she saw were crueler than cruel
and she said, "we've got to change the rules"
go sing it,
wild horse annie, now sing it loud and sing it strong
wild horse annie, you got the world a-singin' your song
(wild horse annie!)
she marched right up to the government seat
in linen dresses and with heels on her feet
her voice, she used in stead of those who had none
'til the battle was finally won (it was won!) (but it's just begun!)
you did it,
wild horse annie, you sang it loud and sang it strong
wild horse annie, you got the world a-singin' your song
keep singin'
wild horse annie, you may be gone but not for long
wild horse annie...
...we're gonna keep on singin' your song
